In 1925, the dream of Sigma Chi at Louisiana State University became a reality. Gamma Iota was born. The House of the Southern Woods was built entirely of Louisiana hardwoods in 1940, a showcase of southern architecture. Destroyed by fire in 1974, her restoration in 1976 embodies the everlasting brotherhood she fostered. This majestic and beautiful house shares the triumphs, sorrows, joys, and afflictions of the thousands of brothers who have passed through her doors.
